About
FT Media is me, Tim
When you call, I answer. When something needs fixing, I fix it. There’s no account manager in between.
How I got here
I started on the art side. I finished a graphic design degree in 1999, and a year later I was designing websites for an internet service provider, back when most businesses were just figuring out they needed one.
In 2005 I co-founded a company that built websites and ran the servers they lived on, seven of us counting me and my business partner. We built and maintained hundreds of sites on Mambo, Joomla, Zen Cart and WordPress. That’s where I learned the part nobody sees: keeping sites fast, secure and online for businesses that needed them to just work, and what it really costs to keep a content management system patched year after year.
In 2012 I crossed over into industrial controls and automation, and earned a mechatronics degree along the way. I designed and built UL 508A control panels, and worked in technical sales, support and management. In that world a mislabeled wire can shut down a lift station, so you learn to do things neatly, document everything and leave it working.
I’ve come full circle to websites and design, and I brought the panel shop habits with me. Every site is built to be fast, tidy and easy to hand off, and I stick around to keep it running.
Why FT?
The F is for Fast. The T is me, Tim. That’s two kinds of fast, and with FT Media you get both:
Fast to build. Your website can go live in days, not months. The only thing that really slows a build down is waiting on photos and answers, so if you’re quick throwing the ball back, we’ll be quick too.
Fast to load. Pages are hand-coded and served from a network with copies all over the country. A whole page here weighs less than one photo from your phone, which matters when your customer is standing in a driveway on one bar of signal.
What that means for you
- You talk to the person actually doing the work
- Plain English. No jargon, no pressure
- A fixed price in writing before anything starts
- Your site, your domain, your content. You own it all
I won’t hold your website hostage
Somewhere along the way most business owners run into it: the website is in somebody else’s account, the domain is registered to a company that stopped answering the phone, and getting your own business back costs money you shouldn’t have to spend. I’ve watched it happen. I’m not that guy.
You register the domain
In your name, on your card. I’ll hold your hand through it if you’d like.
The accounts are yours
Hosting, Google Business Profile, email. Set up under your name, with your logins.
You grant me access
Then I do the heavy lifting inside them. You stay in charge, and you can take the keys back any time.
Leaving is easy
No lock-in contract and no ransom, just 30 days’ notice. You keep your files, and I remove my access.
That’s not a favor; it’s how it should work. People stay with me because I pick up the phone, get things done and have their backs, not because they’re stuck.
